Flexible Release Trains at Deutsche Telekom
Making ARTs more dynamic
The mechanisms we introduced to enable more flexible orientation structures by using eTOM. Presentation at European SAFe Summit.
Presented by: Wolfgang Brandhuber and Richard Butler.
Key Takeaways:
Using a standard such as eTOM during Value Stream Analysis enables
-> Common language across the organization
-> Ability to recognize gaps and redundancies
-> Architectural independence
->Ability to organize around value
Through the use of a common language, mechanisms to organize around value such as “Solution areas” and “planning conferences” enable teams to collaborate based on current need which in turn leads to flexible ART set-ups which can regularly change with little overhead.
Using a capability model to decouple the description of business requirements from IT applications makes reorganizing around value easier.
This is based on our successful experience of implementing the model at Deutsche Telekom. The mechanisms shown are a precursor to Rimagin's dynamic zones concept.
